Warsaw filmfest nominates Iranians

The 11th edition of the Grand Off - World Independent Short Film Awards held in Warsaw, Poland, has nominated four Iranian titles.

The festival’s official website announced the nominations of 57 films from 428 in 11 categories.

The 20-minute ‘Chelipa’ made by Karim Amini is nominated in the category of Best Production Design.

The 5-minute ‘The Servant’ directed by Farnoush Abedi is among the nominees at the category of the Best Animation category.

The festival’s jury also nominated the 4-minute ‘Track’ by Reza Golchin and the 27-minute ‘Kahrizak-Tajrish’ by Azadeh Rezaian-Moqaddam, both from Iran, at the Best Documentary category.

In the final stage all films will be rated by the jury, comprised of 54 people from around the world.

The results and winners will be announced on December 2nd in Warsaw during a ceremony.

As the most important initiative promoting independent Cinema in Poland and one of the most important initiatives in the world, Grand Off was brought to life in 2006.

World Independent Cinema Awards GRAND OFF is a cultural event that draws attention on the phenomenon of independent cinema and gives it a proper rank, seriousness and prestige.

Nominated films are evaluated by an international jury formed by about 60 film experts, theorists, directors, operators, editors, and actors from more than 30 countries.

The 11th edition of the Grand Off is slated for November 27 to December 4, 2017.
